Reunion-Colorado.com Editor Needed!

We’re looking for someone with a passion for being involved in the Reunion community to join us and help provide insightful content for all the visitors of this website.

(Don’t worry, you don’t have to know anything about the internet…you just have to be able to use a word-processor and have internet access.  We’ll show you how to do the rest!)

We need someone who enjoys attending community events, taking photos, writing abot the events, working with community leaders to stay up to date on current events, keeping up to date with any happenings involving our community and getting the residents and businesses in our community to engage in the website.  This is great for someone looking for and enjoyable hobby to do in their spare time and there’s even potential for some side-income.

Interested?  Take a look at our Reunion Job Board for more details.

Starbucks is Confirmed!

It’s official, Starbucks is coming to Reunion and will have a store located in the Reunion Village at 104th and Tower Road. Shea Homes closed on the land sale to Starbucks, so there’s no backing out now. All you homeowners know what I mean. ;)

Construction is slated to begin in the Spring and the store will be located just north of where Sonic is.

Not only should coffee lovers be thrilled, but everyone should be excited about this because of “The Starbucks Effect”.  Rumor has it that houses within a 1 mile radius of a new Starbucks location increase in value over the first few years the store is open.  I still have yet to find any evidence to back this up, so if you have any please share it with us in the comments.

And for those of you adamant about the Local Coffee Shop vs. Starbucks debate, here’s your chance to vote…

We're curious, would you rather go to a Starbucks, a local coffee shop or a drive-thru stand if they were to open in Reunion?

Dog Park Coming!

There was quite a bit of interest in the Dog Park Vote we posted a few weeks ago.  While there won’t be a Dog Park built in Reunion, Commerce City Parks & Recreation Department was already working on the idea and has plans for a park near the South East corner of 104th and Havana (just before you pass over Highway 76 if you’re driving west).  Here’s a map

Plans for the park are just getting and the Parks & Recreation Department is expected to announce an official opening date sometime in the Spring.  We are optimistic that it will open sometime in 2008 though!

Let us know your thoughts by using the “comments” link below.

We’re Officially…Unofficial

After having the site up and running for a couple months, Shea Homes has taken an interest in www.reunion-colorado.com and graciously allowed us to use the Reunion trademark with their permission.  (Note the legal disclaimer at the bottom of our site.)  While we’re not the “official” Reunion Colorado website, we will do our best to help connect the community and to keep everyone up to date on what’s happening.

What does this mean?  This means that the Reunion Welcome Center is going to be keeping us up to date on any happening news, events or other things of interest here in our community.  They’ve also kindly mentioned some “slight” inaccuracies with facts and figures on the site that we’re in the process of updating.  I think we all knew that whole “larger than Highlands Ranch” thing was a joke…I wish I could say we were trying to be funny.

Key Features of www.reunion-colorado.com:

  • Reunion’s List (think of it as Craigslist, but just for Reunion)
  • Reunion Colorado Job board!  If you’re an employer (or a home-based business) and wish to post some job listings, you can contact us here and we’ll create you an account.  You’ll be able to manage your own job postings and receive emails with resumes directly from the applicants!
  • Reunion Colorado Business Section - This will be an evolving list of businesses in the area, hopefully with detail about each sometime soon!

Again, a big Thank You to Shea Homes, the Reunion Colorado Welcome Center (and Bonnie) for offering to help us out!

Job Board Now Available!

Check it out at www.reunion-colorado.com/jobs
(or click the “Jobs” tab at the top-right)

We just published a full-featured job board on the site and are excited to get a few employers in the area to post some jobs for our community. While this will undoubtedly be a little slow at first, I’m sure it will pick up as the towncenter is built and more home-based businesses move into the area. Some of the cool things you can do:

  • Employers get a login and can add/edit/remove posts at will
  • Job Seekers can apply online and even submit resumes via the job board
  • Easily email interesting jobs to friends
  • And more…

To get started posting jobs, go to www.reunion-colorado.com/jobs and use the “Contact Us” link to request an employer login. Once verified, we’ll send you a username/password so you can begin posting your positions. This is also great for any home-based businesses interested in part-time assistance or even full commission based jobs.

Richmond Homes - Year End Savings

For anyone who’s looking to move here to Reunion or who knows someone they’re trying to get to move to Reunion, here are some year-end deals from Richmond Homes.  These are typically the best deals of the year as any public home-building companies need to get the inventory homes off their books to improve their annual numbers.

Dog Park in Reunion?

There is some buzz going around the community about a possible dog park being build in Reunion. It’s still undecided if it will be built and if so, whether it will be a new park build on un-used land or if it will use part of an existing park in Reunion.

Let us know what you think about the dog park by voting here:

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast
“Coming Together as Friends and Neighbors”
November 17, 2007  8-10 am

We’re holding a Pancake Breakfast for residents of Reunion, come one come all.  We do need help the Friday evening before to setup and could also use some extra folding chairs if you have any.

If you can help out or will be attending, please let us know or RSVP by filling out this form.  We’ll reply with the location and any other details.

New Businesses Coming Soon!

Well, it was just a matter of time until Starbucks committed to a store in Reunion and they’re going to be putting in our first coffee shop next to Sonic at 104th & Tower rd! For anyone else who was about to put up a coffee stand and make millions of the residents of Reunion…I hear they’re hiring at the airport. ;)

I’m sure you all know about the Wal-Mart that’s being built at the North-East Corner of 104th & Tower Rd, but we just learned that it’s going to be a Super Wal-Mart complete with grocery store! No more driving 20 minutes down the road because you need more sugar for dinner.

There’s also the Del Taco that’s almost done being built next to the gas station. Looks like they’re going to be the only food-stop besides Subway were you can actually go in and sit down. Men…FINALLY a sit-down restaurant in Reunion where you can take your wives to celebrate anniversaries. (Use of Del Taco for anniversary dinners is at your own risk.)

We’ll let you know as we learn more about new businesses opening, but hopefully Starbucks kick-starts some of the bigger names!
