Reunion’s List Launches

We have been brainstorming for a few weeks now on how we can help our community connect a little easier and came up with what we’re calling Reunion’s List.

To get there, just click the “List” link in the navigation bar above.

Think of it as Craigslist, personalized for just the residents of Reunion Colorado.  There’s a lot here and I’m sure it will be evolving very quickly.  If you have any comments or suggestions for new categories, let us know at info at reunion-colorado dot com.

Enjoy!

Great Resources for Trees and Shrubs

In the middle of writing about how to get your home ready for our snowy winters, we learned that late October and November are the perfect months to be planting new trees and shrubs. We did a little more digging and found some excellent places to get your trees and shrubs either locally or for dirt cheap on the internet. There was actually enough info that we wrote another article about it. Here you go!

Tree and Shrub Resources for Residents of Reunion Colorado

First Snow in Reunion! Get ready for winter…

I’m sure you all noticed the first snow of the season on the ground today and I’m even more sure all the kids in the neighborhood are quite excited. But for all you new homeowners out there, you’re probably have a few questions on what you need to do. How do you prepare your home? What can you do to help your yard come spring? Are there any details you’re missing?

Check out the article in our Reunion Colorado Neighborhood section called “Winter Preparation in Reunion, Colorado“.

A Little Help

As we’re getting this website up and off the ground, one thing we need help with is creating sections and content that people in our community will be interested in and can benefit from.  We’re doing our best, but could use help with anything and everything you can think of to write.  Brainstorm, jot things down, do some research or even pull up old research you’ve already done on home projects.  Write it all down and send it to us at articles@reunion-colorado.com.  We’ll get back to you with any suggestions and/or get it posted on the site!

Reunion Colorado Neighbor to Neighbor Program

This program is just underway in our community! The Neighbor To Neighbor Program is designed to help make Reunion a better, safer place to live. The program is created with the goals of reducing crime in our neighborhood and keeping citizens informed of neighborhood crime statistics. Currently, the Neighbor To Neighbor Program is recruiting Block Captains. If you’re interested in becoming a Block Captain or would like additional information about the Neighbor To Neighbor Program, you may contact “groovin3360 at hotmail dot com”. There are other way so to be involved in the Neighbor To Neighbor Program. For example, you will be invited to participate in FREE workshops at the Reunion Recreational Center! Stay tuned for these workshops which include topics such as self-defense and computer security. In the coming weeks, you’ll hear more about the Neighbor To Neighbor program and other ways to get involved in this worthwhile outreach program.

Why Reunion, Colorado?

We’ve had a bunch of people ask us why my wife and I chose to live in Reunion as opposed to other areas of Denver. For those of you considering a new home in Colorado, here are our reasons. (Keep in mind that we were strongly considering a smaller place closer to Denver.)

  • Price - In Reunion we got a 2500 sq ft home, brand new, with a yard and a ton of upgrades for the same price as an early 1900’s home with 1500 sq ft, low ceilings, small rooms, problems galore and an estimated $1500 in annual repairs.
  • Space - The open floor plans and 8-9 ft ceilings make the home feel like it has a LOT more space than the cramped homes near Denver.
  • Commute - I know, you feel like you’re farther than DIA. But highway 2 gets us to our offices in downtown Denver in a consistent 40 minutes. Ever been stuck in traffic at 120th and tempted to pay the toll each day just to dodge traffic? Compare Reunion to those places in South East Denver where you have at least an hour commute into downtown. Not to mention, they’re already more expensive! It only takes us 20 minutes to get downtown if it isn’t rush hour.
  • Community - It’s tough to beat a place that’s so family oriented. The people are amazing, the streets and parks are clean, events going on all the time, and a great community/rec center to work out in.
  • HOA’s - How many other places can you find where dues of roughly $50/month will get you neighborhood security, parks, snow removal, and access to an indoor rec center with a full size gym, workout equipment and 2 community pools.
  • Longevity - Reunion is a place you can move to and know that you won’t have to move for a long time to come. Great homes, a great community and great proximity to Denver. Plus, your home won’t require ongoing repairs to old pipes, electrical, flooring, foundation and roof issues.
  • While this isn’t really a Reunion-only selling point, for anyone considering moving to Colorado from out of state…Colorado gets over 300 days of sunshine! I know, I know…we have a reputation for cold and snow. But that’s not reality. Typically the mountains get the snow, but in Denver if it snows it usually melts away in 24-48 hours. Indian summers are pretty typical around here.

There are a ton of reasons to take a look at Reunion, so come take a look at it for yourselves and tour the new homes in our area.

Morrison Homes are Almost Gone!

For those of you who may be interested in a Morrison Home here in Reunion, they’re almost sold out. There are 3 homes left in the Back Nine neighborhood (from the low $300’s) and only 4 homes left in the Southlawn Neighborhood (from the mid $200’s). Morrison is one of the only builders in Reunion offering a full 2-year warranty along with the standard 10-year foundation warranty.

Kite and Flight Festival

I’m sure most of you knew about the Reunion Kite and Flight Festival that went on at Reunion Park on Saturday, but there wasn’t much publicity about the fireworks show that followed. My wife and I heard a couple of large booms and thought someone was either shooting their shotgun or had a few leftover fireworks they were getting rid of. Turns out we were right with the second guess…only it was more than a few fireworks.

This was actually the show initially scheduled for our Independence Day Celebration, but was canceled because of high winds. Hope you all enjoyed the show!
